The Alcor seeing monitor begins at about 10:15 PM in summer and about 8 PM in the winter, specifically at the end of Astronomical Twilight (beginning of Astronomical Darkness), when the sun is 18 degrees below the horizon. During the day this number represents the mean seeing for the previous night. During the evening, this number represents the current mean seeing for that evening.
